Originally by: SimonTrent What ever happened to having everything in the game to be player created?
They were added as an item sold by NPCs and then, a few expansions later, converted to something made by players.
I'm not going to whine until someone proves that the AUR items will actually be better than the existing ones and that they will completely bypass the player market forever.
...but people won't listen. 'Cause I'm not going to be extremly loud about my opinion. Just this one post. 3.

Why? Because it increases market demand when the item is needed to succeed. So of course the bankers will do it.
Have you looked at who is running CCP?
edit: oh and because CCP SAID "WE WILL BE ADDING"
If you believe that newsletter is hypothetical back and forth banter then I have some great land in Florida to sell you.
What? Was that a reply to my post? Did you even read it?
Please read it again.

Please read it again.
Have you not also seen the changes to the structure of the game engine to allow for all these things to be monitized?
Have you not seen features being removed so they can be added again later as MT?
The story is kinda complex so I won't and probably can't build the complete picture for you. Especially if your frame of mind is to never believe it regardless.
so....
317 pages. Someone must have written something about what CCP has confirmed. I'm not listening to anything until someone has proof or a very detailed (almost scientific) report explaining their theories.
The age of wikipedia and trolls does require more than just random forum posts.

Here is one of the many detailed responses. Thanks Tippia http://eve.beyondreality.se/NeXCQResponse.html
Thanks for linking!
Just reading it now. I suggest EVERYONE reads it. Especially page 7.
"virtual goods sales are far less appealing when the gameplay is affected and they arenÆt replacing a black market. When weÆre adding additional things into the game that enable users to gain an advantage over other people for real money in a way they simply wouldnÆt be able to if we hadnÆt done so, then it becomes an issue. I feel that if people have already paid a subscription fee then unless there is a good reason for the overall community to introduce a gameplay-affecting virtual goods sales (such as with PLEX), then gaining an in-game advantage isnÆt justifiable. More revenue is of course an aim, but making our customers feel like they are being ædouble billedÆ to be able to play on the same level as others is just a step too far."

Originally by: Ken Aldeland I haven't read the whole thread, so apologies to anyone else who mentioned the same things, but I think Tippia did a great job spelling it all out; I'd love a point by point response from CCP (hopefully come Monday).
Link to Tippia's breakdown: http://eve.beyondreality.se/NeXCQResponse.html
Yeah that breakdown is good enough. It makes some valid points (like why we are forced to leave the capsule every time we dock) but it's also way too agressive. It almost sounds like the work of some kind of fundamentalist.
As long as functional items won't be added and more convenience options are added (like fixing the Incursion clickfest), I don't see any reason to whine.

Sigh. Is this still going on?
Someone please PROVE that AUR will lead to functional items that are in any way better than the existing ones. That leaked "Greed is good" document CLEARLY says on page 7 that they don't belive in the ability to sell shortcuts to success in the game.

We already do pay for it, monthly, or did you just forget that? Anyway, custom paintjobs? Totally f*cking pointless. It's a stupid idea. And Captains Quarters? Even more pointless. I hate it. If I wanted to walk around like some sad lonely freak trying to make people love me and my expensive pixels, I would join Second Life. Anyone who is reading this and thinking "I quite like the Captains Quarters" please f*ck off and play Second Life instead of ruining our spaceship game.
All of the turrets look like blobs. They suck. And I don't care that if I zoom in close enough to my ship I can actually see some turrets doing stuff. So what. This may be content, but it's not playable content. It changes nothing.
All they needed to do was research why previous MMOG's have failed, and avoid making the same mistakes. But reading what their employees think, here, I wouldn't be surprised if they haven't done any research at all.
If I wanted to walk around I would play Second Life. If I wanted to fly internet spaceships I would play EVE. That's why I'm here playing this f*cking game. If a small fraction of the World of Warcraft player base wanted to play internet spaceships, do you think the WoW developers would risk a revolt by forcing all WoW players into space? The answer is no.
I'm not even going to get started about the lies you've told concerning microtransactions, the leaked email, the leaked staff newsletter, and your stupid arrogant devblog. A little advice: first you give the customers what they want, then you get long-term subscriptions. You don't just ignore them, force Second Life bullsh*t down their throat and ask for a pay rise!
Your opinion is stupid.

- Make the CQ/WIS optional, with ship-spinning as your other option for those who didn't want it.
- Aurum for vanity items such as clothing or stuff to decorate your quarters with.
- Several Skins for each ship type, maybe charge a couple of dollars each... LOTS of people would have bought those.
- Vanity effects - change the colour of your engine trails - blue plasma glow, etc... a dollar or two each.
- Big glowing neon signs for your POS with your corp logo on them... could charge a bit more for those.
- Batteries to power the big glowing neon signs for your POS... a couple of dollars for a weeks worth, maybe?
... all of which is pretty but non-game-changing stuff, which could have increased revenue without alienating the player-base.
Bump of logic
I don't see how they have strayed from those ideas. The ship spinning might just be like the Incursion clickfest. They listened to the mob and made it a lot better. As for the other things, they are just not going to be so open that they will tell everyone about every single little thing they are planning. Not denying is not the same thing as confirming.
I'm concerned about all this as well, but I'm not going to start spreading lies just to try to harm the company.

Originally by: Hlinass the best idea now is to suspend the subscription of the secondary accounts. This will send a derailed projects such as "power of two" and the very real impact on the outflow of users.
It's more likely I'll change into a 12 month subscription and start another one because there is no way I'll take sides with the massive and almost fundamentalist douchebaggery that's going on.
Let CCP employees have the weekend off like most of us, have a damage control meeting on Monday and release an official statement on Tuesday. Maybe then we can go back to having fun fun fun fun on Friday.
